Kamaru Usman is the new UFC welterweight champion, defeating Tyron Woodley in dominant fashion via decision in the co-main event of UFC 235. Judges scored the fight 50-44, 50-44 and 50-45 for Usman. Usman’s 192 body strikes landed vs. Woodley are a new single-fight UFC record. For Usman (15-1), the first African-born UFC champion, his UFC record moves to 10-0 with eight of those wins coming by decision. This loss for Woodley (19-4-1) snaps a six-fight unbeaten streak, and marks only the second time in his MMA career in which he was taken down.
