Reported by WIRED:The bidet has been loved and uncontroversially utilized by much of the world. So why hasn’t it been widely adopted in the United States? Maybe it’s related to the theory that anything French is automatically un-American. Or it’s because of a cultural masculine insecurity (no, the water is not going into your butt. It’s a precise shower onto your butt.) Whatever it is, society’s rejection of the bidet is thoroughly unhygienic.
