2017 has been jammed packed with some seriously stacked UFC fight cards. Everything from Cormeir vs. Jones to Bisping vs St. Pierre. We have witnessed some freakishly wicked submissions and some hard-hitting knockouts such as the heavyweight match up between Overreem and Ngannou. Though the year may be coming to a close, the UFC has two of the biggest names in the welterweight division Squaring off this Saturday @ 8pm EST on FOX. I want to take a minute to talk about two of the fights I’m most excited for and my predictions for both.
Ricardo Lamas vs Josh Emmett is the co main event in this card but could hold its own as a main event. Both men are coming off victories so this fight is sure to be full of fireworks. Lamas has now finished six of his last nine opponents and continues to display effective striking with solid take-down ability. Emmett has won five of his last six fights. Even though Emmet has proven to be a complete fighter I will have to go with Lamas for this match-up. Lamas is the aggressor with a higher finish percentage and has proven over the years he can end things either standing up or on the canvas. I have lamas with the finish in the third round.
Robby Lawler vs Dos Anjos will be the fight of the night since both men have completed well over 30 professional MMA Bouts, not to mention both being former champions in their own respected divisions. Though it will be tough to say who will come out victorious in this all out war my spidey senses are telling me to go with Dos Anjos. Anjos holds a blackbelt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and has some seriously underrated knock out power, it’s possible Lawler may have bitten off more than he can chew. RDA will have his way with his take-down game and eventually breakdown Lawler to the point of no return. I have RDA with a Submission in the 4th.
