The hidden side of politics

Rep. Massie takes heat from Schumer, White House for ‘antisemitic’ post

Reported by Washington Times:

Rep. Thomas Massie faced backlash for his social media post Tuesday, with some responses calling it antisemitic.

The Kentucky Republican posted a meme on X that joked how Congress feels about American patriotism and Zionism. The post has the rapper Drake with the words “Congress these days” and shows him rejecting “American Patriotism” in favor of “Zionism.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, New York Democrat, responded by calling the post antisemitic.

“Rep. Massie, you’re a sitting Member of Congress,” he wrote on X. “This is antisemitic, disgusting, dangerous and exactly the type of thing I was talking about in my Senate address. Take this down.”

White House Deputy Communications Director Herbie Ziskend also denounced Mr. Massie’s post.

“All Americans — including @HouseGOP leadership — should condemn this virulent antisemitism from a sitting member of Congress,” he wrote on X.

Mr. Massie’s post grabbed the attention of Matthew Brooks, CEO of the Republican Jewish Coalition.

“Let me be crystal clear on this. This post is antisemitic. Plain and simple. Shame on you @RepThomasMassie,” he wrote on X. “You’re a disgrace to the U.S. Congress and to the Republican Party.”

The Kentucky lawmaker hasn’t deleted the post and shot back at Mr. Schumer.

“If only you cared half as much about our border as you do my tweets,” he wrote on X.

Zionism is a nationalist movement starting in the 19th century that called for a Jewish homeland, which became Israel.
