SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – Xavier Becerra (HAH-vee-air Bah-sehr’-ah) was plucked from Congress to lead California’s strident opposition to all things Donald Trump.
Now his three challengers in the state attorney general’s race say he’s so fixated on challenging the Republican president he’s doing a poor job in other areas.
Becerra says he’s done much more than sue the Trump the administration.
His bid to remain the state’s top law enforcement officer is contested in the June 5 primary election by fellow Democrat Dave Jones, who is the state insurance commissioner, and two Republicans – former Judge Steven Bailey and attorney Eric Early.
The top two vote-getters advance to the November general election no matter their party affiliation.
