HOOVER, Ala. (AP) – Two activists have been arrested during a demonstration at an Alabama shopping mall where a black man was killed by police last month.
Al.com reports the protesters were arrested Saturday afternoon at Hoover’s Riverchase Galleria while activists were silently holding banners that read “EJ was murdered here,” and “#HooverWrong.”
Hoover police say Cara McClure was charged with trespassing, while Martez Files was arrested for disorderly conduct.
The activists were protesting the shooting death of 21-year-old Emantic “EJ” Bradford Jr., who authorities mistook for the suspect in a shopping mall shooting on Thanksgiving night.
A police officer who heard the initial shots fatally wounded Bradford moments later after seeing him with a gun.
Activists want police to release any footage they have of the shooting.
It’s unclear if McClure or Files has an attorney.
