Taylor Swift and I Are Both Fans of This Posture-Correcting Sports Bra

As a fellow tall girlie, I know all too well the struggles of correcting an overly-arched back — one which I’m entirely convinced started forming back in middle school when I towered over all of my peers and desperately wanted to minimize my height in the midst of the (often shorter) boys I had crushes on. Alas, if only I’d known about all the ways that “short king summer” would manifest in my life later on!

I’ve long found solace in Swift’s similar 5’10”-5’11” build — after all, if the most famous woman on Earth had more of a hunched frame, was it really that bad? (As Swifties like to point out, hers could very well be a result of carrying the entire music industry on her back — to which I conquer). As it turns out, prior to the start of her record-breaking Eras Tour, Swift seemingly set out on a similar mission to correct her posture with the help of this Forme Power Bra ($175). The pop star was even photographed wearing the sports bra in rehearsals for the tour.

While I’m typically doubtful about the effectiveness of these sorts of products, Swift’s posture certainly looks like its improved in recent years — perhaps that’s just the confidence that comes with evolving into a bonafide cultural juggernaut? Whatever it may be, I decided to test out the T.Swift-approved bra for myself and ahead, break down everything to know about the piece.

How Does This Posture-Correcting Sports Bra Work?

Believe it or not, there is an actual science to the design of Forme’s Power Bra — so much so, that it’s even been FDA-registered. Per the brand, the product was actually designed by an orthopedic surgeon with the intent of helping his mother deal with the pain caused by compressed lungs and poor posture from cancer. The resulting style is a functional sports bra that — through muscle memory engagement and proprioception training technology — works to keep the shoulders pulled back and down, helping to improve your body’s overall alignment over time.

What I Like About This Posture-Correcting Sports Bra

Despite only wearing this bra for about a month, I can honestly say that I’ve seen a real improvement in my day-to-day posture — which tells me that it not only yields fast results, but that my alignment will likely only get better with more wear. Despite its snug design, the bra is easy to put on and fits like a glove while still providing plenty of mobility for my arms. Despite its posture-correcting benefits, I appreciate that the style also works just as well as a normal sports bra. Its wireless design is supremely comfortable and it has a compressive nature that helps to keep everything pulled in and together — with no fear of slippage during an intense workout or yoga session. It’s created to target and transform key muscles on the back and shoulders, ultimately training them to maintain a more elevated posture over time. I also love that while the bra itself is lightweight and very breathable, the style

What’s Worth Noting

This posture-correcting sports bra is just that — a sports bra. While it’s designed to improve alignment, it’s by no means a cure-all for poor posture and most cases are better off being reviewed by health professionals (like chiropractors) who can provide real-life treatments and exercises to better adjust your alignment.

Who Is This Posture-Correcting Sports Bra Best For?

If you’re someone who has struggled with posture issues and are hoping to improve your alignment (and confidence) in the new year, then this sports bra is a worthwhile investment. While it certainly boasts a steeper price tag than normal sports bra, the science behind it — and immediate alignment benefits — make it a unique alternative that’ll help you to improve your posture anywhere and anytime.
